We have spent incredibly too much money over the last month. Well, last few months actually. In my great attempt to get back on budget, I am determined to eat out as little as possible in August.
In order to do this, I am going to be making some freezer meals to fall back on and compiling some recipes to just grab and make as I see what meat is on sale each week. I'm even going to cook some lunch portion meals to freeze and send with my hubby to work.
Check back in for recipes and organizing ideas for the big freezer cooking day!
A Housewife Life
Crockpot Pumpkin Pudding Casserole
With the heat of summer upon us, I am really looking forward to Autumn to be here. It's my favorite season of them all and I wait patiently for the leaves to begin to change and jeans to come back out of my closet. Not to say I don't enjoy the moment that I'm in - I'm LOVING the pool time with my kiddos... however I am getting tired of the mile long walk with my dog in the blazing heat!
Alllll of this to say, I wanted pumpkin pudding so badly the other day, but didn't want to heat up my house. I took a recipe I had on hand and threw it in the crockpot to see what would happen.
I cooked mine for 4 hours and let it cool. I then refrigerated it over night and have been eating it for breakfast and desserts through the week. I did eat it straight from pot, but it was better the next day after it set.

DIY Baby Leg Warmers
I finally remembered to pick up those knee highs at Target! Great price too - clearence for $1.25 each - so I picked up 3 pairs. I figured I would ruin at least 1 pair in my diy attempt at the baby leg warmers.
Now let me set the stage... I am NOT a sewer. I mean, I know how to cross-stitch and my mother in law is slowly teaching me how to embroider, but beyond those very (very) basic skills, I am not a sewer. Seamstress... whatever. So, I found my sewing machine (yes found - it's been that long since I looked for it) and dug it out of my husband's side of the closet. After fighting with it for over an hour - something with the bobbin tihnging that goes under the needle part - I gave up. Not gracefully though, as it took all of my composure to not heave it across the room!
I decided, who needs machinery, I was going to hand sew them! And so I did! The stitch work is quite crude - but I don't care! It holds it together well enough and cost me a total of $1.25!!! Woo-Hoo!

Today's Top 5 To-Do
Oh Wednesday, how quickly you sneak up on me! Here are 5 things I would love to get done today:
- Find a new crockpot recipe
I used my oven to cook some double chocolate chip cookies... MISTAKE! I only got through 2 batches before I gave up because my house became beastly hot. It took all night for it to cool back down, so I have vowed to try not to use my oven for the next few weeks. - Print home binder lists for next week
I have schedule sheets, menu lists, lesson plans, etc that I need ready to work on for next week. I'll add them to my home binder when I'm done. - Laundry, Laundry, Laundry
Need I say more?! - Grocery Shop
I hate grocery shopping with my kiddos, but I don't have a choice today. My goal is to get the whole list and coupons together during my son's first morning nap. - Make Baby Leg Warmers
I found these diy instructions I hope to finally remember to pick up knee highs to make these out of. This will be my 4th attempt to remember to pick them up from Target or Walmart!
Check back in tomorrow to see how the baby legs turned out!
